An exceptional and historically significant pair of Pierre Jeanneret “Student Chairs”, also known as Writing Armchairs (Model PJ-SI-32 variant), designed for the educational institutions of Chandigarh and Punjab in the early 1960s.
Constructed from solid teak with woven cane seat and backrest, each chair features the iconic compass-shaped V-legs, an integrated writing arm tablet, and a lower shelf for books or documents — embodying Jeanneret’s philosophy of functional elegance and handcrafted modernism.
Both chairs bear original stenciled inventory markings:
  • P.A.U / AC-059 — Dean Room
  • P.A.U / AC-060 — Dean Room
  • These markings identify the pair as belonging to the Dean’s Office at Panjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana — an institution closely linked to Panjab University, Chandigarh, and part of the same architectural and educational network envisioned by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret.
All vintage items include a certificate of authenticity.
