Pierre Jeanneret Dining Table, 1955–1960
Taxes & duties included
A rectangular dining table attributed to Pierre Jeanneret and produced for Chandigarh, India, during the city’s principal period of institutional furnishing.
The table is constructed in solid wood with a thick plank-built top, applied perimeter edging and two broad slab-form supports. Measuring approximately 6 × 3 feet, it represents a smaller version of the model used in Chandigarh’s administrative and institutional interiors.
The front edge retains an old inventory inscription reading approximately “P.W. ENGG. WING 194/II,” likely referring to the Public Works Engineering Wing and an internal asset number. The marking supports provenance from a Chandigarh government or engineering department.
