Sale price$12,872.50

Taxes & duties included

A set of three high laboratory stools made for the Physics Department at Panjab University, Chandigarh, circa 1960–1966.
Each stool is constructed with a thick circular teak seat supported by four slightly splayed, tapered slab legs and fitted with a circular iron footrest. The seat rails retain hand-applied departmental inventory markings reading “Phy-10,” “Phy-19” and “Phy-33.”
The stools were commissioned for the Physics Department or Science Block at Panjab University, Sector 14, Chandigarh. The university campus was designed principally by Pierre Jeanneret under the general direction of Le Corbusier and was progressively occupied from the late 1950s.
The set shows extensive wear consistent with long-term institutional use, including abrasions, staining, surface losses and variations in patina.
